Through the construction of the Berlin-Anhalter railway in 1841 Jüterbog got a rail connection and so another place of interest.
When the construction was finished, bit by bit other lines were added, for example to Riesa, Zossen, Dahme or Treuenbrietzen.
The train station was then ca 2km outside of the town. So the Jüterboger Straßenbahn AG was founded, which built the horse tramway to connect the station with Jüterbog.
This connection existed from 1897 to 1928, then omnibuses were used.
The Jüterboger Straßenbahn AG was dissolved again in 1938 but parts of the horse tramway survived into the 50s.
Today the Jüterbog train station is stop for the regional express and regional trains along the lines from Wittenberg to Berlin, to Falkenberg and Beelitz via Treuenbrietzen.
