The Hanse Sail in Rostock

Traditionally on the second weekend in August, the Hanse Sail at the Warnow in the old Rostock city harbour and Warnemünde takes place, since 1991.

The Hanse Sail is the biggest maritime event in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.
Over 300 tall sailing ships and traditional sailing boats have come here for years.

More than 1 million visitors and well-known faces from politics, economy, culture, sports and art come together here.

An exciting folk festival takes place here with an interesting range of entertainment. There is something for every visitor.

Lovingly restored traditional sailing boats, schooner, barques, briggs, galeasses, barquentines, old ships and wonderful windjammer can be admired and experienced.

Joining a sailing tour is very popular. From Rostock and Warnemünde, one can do day sailing trip to experience everything on offer live. Around 30.000 people who want to join a sailing trip are expected this year again.

In front of Warnemünde, traditional sailing boats enjoy a regatta, which are of special interest to visitors. The sailing territory around Warnemünde is one of the prettiest in Germany.

In addition, there is also a meeting of seaplanes taking place, the so-called 'Seeflieger-Meeting'.
The Hanse Sail is a very special event for the Hanseatic city of Rostock. Visitors and participants come here from countries around the world - the Hanseatic city takes centre stage.

Year upon year, the Hanse Sail gains more attention as more and more visitors come into the city and participate.

On the last evening of the event, Rostock's restaurateurs show their hospitality.
All sailing crews are invited to dinner.
Thus, they can talk about the eventful days and try out the delicious Mecklenburg cuisine.
