Historic steam train in the Osnabruecker- and Tecklenburger Land

Steam locomotive like the heydays of the railway takes place on the scenic route of the Teutoburger Wald-Eisenbahn (TWE) (forest railway) between Bad Laer and Ibbenbüren-Lake Aa. There, the 'Teuto-Express', commutes. In the past, when one was thinking of making a journey, planned with the railway. The citizens around the region of the Teutoburg Forest, had the opportunity during the summer season for many years, to experience the flair of such a railway trip. The club 'Eisenbahn – Tradition e.V.' in Lengerich/W. devotes itself to the restoration of old steam engines and lets them travel on the tracks of TWE with restored passenger trains from the same construction time and let them spit steam and swallow coal. Thus, the passenger is able to smell the steam of the old engine.

There is a lot of work involved in the museum railway workers, who spend their weekends in the area of the TWE-workshop in Lengerich-Hohne. Two steam engines, one diesel engine, the extensive passenger train park and last but not least the BCi 28, which is in general inspection right now, a bi-axial passenger train of the 'common construction kind', also called 'blunderbuss', demand lots of work from the active members. Covered in soot and with lots of fun and 'lifeblood' engines and waggons are being serviced, repaired and again and again lovingly cared for and restored. Ultimately, at the start of the season, everything is to shine in fresh glory. Thus, the club, secures an attractive magnet for the region for years.
But also other trains and villages are the destination of the 'Teuto-Express' this
year. Thus, a trip with the diesel engine V 36 412, from Rheine to Bad Laer, from Versmold via Bad Iburg and Osnabrück to Bad Essen to the national horticultural show and a trip to a distillery sightseeing to Haselünne are on the year's programme. The steam engine with its historic train 'Haller Willem' is also a guest at the city festival in Halle/Westphalia from Osnabrück to Bielefeld. On Whitsun Monday the old 'Tecklenburger Northe Train' runs between Osnabrück and Mettingen. Engine and passenger trains can also be hired for company and club outings.
