In Hartenstein between market and church is the Paul-Fleming-House situated.
The German baroque-poet Paul Fleming was born in 1609 in the former old school building of Hartenstein.

Thanks to the initiative of the town administration Hartenstein and the Paul-Fleming-Club a memorial has been set up at the complete restored building.

At the memorial one learns a lot of interesting facts about Paul Fleming. Apart from his life career a chart informs about Feming's trip to Persia from 1633 to 1639. One can also admire Fleming books and copies exhibited in a cabinet.

Another son of Hartenstein is the baroque sculptor Johann Böhme, who was born here in 1595 and later has his workshop in Schneeberg. The visitor receives information about life and work.

Diligently collected and edited were also the facts from the life of Gottfried Benedikt Funk, who was born at the former school in 1734 and became later the headmaster of the cathedral school Magdeburg.
