Joint community of Geestquelle

The local authority area, consisting of the communities Alfstedt, Basdahl, Ebersdorf, Hipstedt and Oerel is a cultural countryside. It is formed by the changing landscape of forestry use as well as the here arising rivers Geeste, Luhne and Mehe. In the coat of arms, blue waving bars and the name indicate that.
The main attraction for landscape-bound recreation is most of all the around 1.000ha big federal forest Hinzel, one of the biggest interconnected wooded areas in the Elbe- Weser-triangle, beside the Hölzerbruch, the Basdahl wood as well as the Alfstedter- and Ebersdorfer forest.

Especially worth seeing is the small brick build Saints church from 1577/78, with lovely interior decorations from the Renaissance time.

The joint community Geestequelle consists of the 5 member communities:

  • Alfstedt
  • Basdahl
  • Ebersdorf
  • Hipstedt
  • Oerel
