Historical In the year 1969 the following communities came together voluntarily Heuerßen, Kobbensen, Lindhorst, Lüdersfeld, Reinsen-Remeringhausen, Schönlingen and Vornhagen and formed the joint community Lindhorst.
On the 1. of March 1974 already the joint community was newly formed in the course of the administration and local government reform in the state of Lower Saxony. The communities Beckedorf and Ottensen were added and the community Reinsen Remeringhausen was incorporated into the city of Stadthagen.
Henceforth the joint community consists of the communities Beckedorf, Heuerßen with the village Kobbensen, Lindhorst with the village Ottensen and Schöttlingen, Lüdersfeld with the village Vornhagen and has it's centre of administration in Lindhorst.
In the core town Lindhorst a school centre was built for around 1000 students (secondary modern and sixth form). The school centre also has a large modern sports hall, a solar-heated outdoor swimming pool with teaching swimming hall and a community kindergarten. The kindergarten was rebuilt in 2002 with a trendsetting technology and is now a "solar-kindergarten". These facilities are used by all community members. Furthermore the individual communities have facilities like sports grounds, tennis grounds, gyms, playgrounds, further kindergartens, auxiliary fire brigade, community centres and so forth. New residential areas and industrial estates are stated by the land-use plan.
Advanced secondary education, the clinical centre Schaumburg, medical specialists and numerous shopping options are available in the neighbouring district town of Stadthagen.
Well Worth Knowing With a population of around 8421 and a total area of 34,34 km2 we have a population density of 245 persons per km2.
The "Steinhuder Meer”, with a large nature reserve of supra-regional importance is only ca.15km away and offers recreation-seekers and visitors diverse leisure time options.
In the joint community area nearly all trade branches are available. Supermarkets and numerous retail shops, doctors, pharmacies and medium-sized business for electronics, metal processing, bandaging material and medicine productions, wood processing, construction companies, forwarder and builder's merchants round the infra-structure off.
