Due to the community reformation in Lower Saxony on the 01/03/1974 the joint community Eilsen was created by the merger of the Schaumburg-Lippischen community Ahnsen, Bad Eilsen, Buchholz, Heeßen and Luhden as well as the county community Schermbeck. The community Schermbeck merged into the community Luhden.
The location of the joint community administration is in the town hall of the spa and health town of Bad Eilsen.
