The small village Hillerse is situated on a small mound in the Leine valley between Harz and Solling southwest of Northeim. It has a population of 1177 (status 01/2008)
Hillerse is part of the city Northeim since the incorporation in 1972.

The village name was first recorded in a deed of foundation as 'Hildessum' in the year 1055 and then later as 'Hildese'.

In comparison to other small villages Hillerse has a very active club life with over 15 clubs. The biggest is the sports club. Since the year 1950 the village Hillerse has been hectare has been named as 'home hill' and has been declared as nature resort in the year 1991.
