Further palaces in the region

Apart from Castle Stein, Castle Schönfels and Palace Blankenhain we'll find in the Zwickauer Land further palaces, which are important contemporary witnesses of bygone times.

The Palace Schweinsburg in Neukirchen is the cradle of Crimmitschau, there the 'masters of Crimmitschau' resided. The former moated castle with parapet, moat and draw-bridge was built for the protection of the settlers from Crimmitschau. In 1743 the castle was rebuilt into a baroque palace. Still there today are the palace, park and servants quarters. The palace houses now a hotel.

The Palace Leubnitz in Leubnitz – a district of Werdau – was built in 1870 from a former moated palace to a knight's estate in the style of the Noire palaces. The palace has four little towers at each corner of the nearly square surface.

The Castle Wiesenburg in Wiesenburg near Wildenfels had to function in its heydays as protection and defence. The castle with its enormous donjon was first recorded in 1251. The eventual palace, today an architectonical landmark of the region is in private hands and is used as residence.

The Palace Wolfsbrunn in Hartenstein was built in 1911/12 as art nouveau building in pretty park grounds and is still used today as a hotel. The Palace Wildenfels goes back to a castle facility, which was built probably in the 12th century at the time when the village was founded. In the place of a medieval moated castle Palace Steinpleis in Steinpleis - a village of Werdau – in the years 1857/58 in the style of English Tudor gothic with tower, battlements and decorative gables. It is today privately owned.
