The three elm tree leaves point to the village Elm. The waves beneath depict the Oste.

The smock mill, built 1773 in Hamburg Flottbeck, has been taken apart and was then taken over the Elbe and Oste to Elm in 1871. The windmill Henriette was then rebuilt there. In 1980 an extensive restoration was undertaken among others the thatched roof, the walls and the sails were renewed. 1000 visitors come to the historical annually. Every two years the 'Mühlenverein' invites to a mill festival with a great programme.

In 1997 the local and baker museum was inaugurated. The local museum offers insight into a flat in the time after the turn of the century. There is a living room and bedroom as well as a small kitchen. Valuable antiques are the bed, sofa, wardrobe, table and chairs as well as a chest from the time after the turn of the century. The mannequin on the picture wears the 'Elm Sunday traditional costume'.
The bakery museum takes us back to the time after 1900. The kneading machine and the bread roll parting machine have an antiquarian value. One can also see the original oven from he year 1903. Mill bread and tasty butter cake is being baked here for special occasions. Guests can enjoy the baked good with a cup of coffee.
