In 1998 Ober Ochtenhausen was awarded, as the fifth village in the joint community, the golden plaque in the country wide competition "Our village shall become more beautiful".
In 1219 appeared the first documented mentioning and Ober Ochtenhausen developed over the centuries to a farmer's village and it is the same still today. After O-O was included into the village support programme, various structural measures could be implemented, like thatched roof improvements, creation of green places, conversion of farm buildings, renewal of the historical church bell towers and many more.
Subsequently the village received a face lift through the work of many hours. These activities coupled with the extraordinarily beautiful location amidst a nature reserve, shaped the charm of the village where about 300 souls live. Thanks to the active participation of the village population the village of Ober Ochtenhausen can say with pride:
'Our village shall become more beautiful'
'Our village has a future'
