Since 2004 the community Oyten has an active partnership with the community Dunapataj from Hungary. It came about through family connections. Already ten years prior a young from Oyten-Sagehorn fell in love with a woman from Dunapataj during an exchange of two choirs. Today the couple lives in neighbouring community of Dunapataj with its three children in Hungary. From it contacts between the two communities contact arose.

In preparation of the partnership agreement a small delegation form Dunapataj visited the community Oyten at the 800-year celebration in June 2004. In September 2004 the partnership agreement was then signed in Dunapataj during a solemn ceremony by both mayors Dr. Antal Nagy (Dunapataj) and Manfred Cordes (Oyten).

In the foreground of the partnership is the cultural exchange and the incorporation of young people. In 2005 45 Dunapatajer (among them 20 youngsters aged 11-15 ) were welcomed in Oyten. Highlight of the one-week exchange was a football match of the TV Oyten, which the 1. team from Dunapataj was able to win.

In addition apart from intensive administration contacts there are many initiatives by private persons and clubs, which were already in the twin town.

Dunapataj is a community with a population of 3793 citizens. It is situated ca. 100km south of Budapest and 13km north of Kalocsa on the level of Solt. The distance to the Szelider Lake is 4 km, one of the prettiest alkaline lakes of the Hungarian plan. The lake has size of 68 hectare. It is 5,3km long and ca. 150m wide. It has a unique flora and fauna; its silky iodised water is supposed to have a healing power. This recreation and health resort in protected.

The settlement's Gothic reformed church stems from the 15th-century. The Roman-Catholic Saint Johann-von-Nepomuk church was built in Baroque style in 1761. The Pataj-Museum with its local history collection is housed in a Unitarian church, which was built in 1937. It's well worth to visit also the local museum and the village forge.
