The Heiligenthal mill stands like a castle at the village entrance of Heiligenthal.
In fact the mill does stand on historical ground even though the present mill building was built in 1950: Premonstratension monks built a mill here at the Hasenburger beck after they constructed a monastery at this place in 1315. after the Reformation the mill came into the estate Heiligenthal in 1562 to which it belonged till 1865.
In opposition to many other mills this mill seems to be having experienced the economical heydays after the Second World War. The impressive in so-called constructed 'local style' mill new building is evidence of that.
But since 1973 the mill estate was changed slowly into a gastronomical business. In 1981 the milling process ceased finally and a larger festival hall and numerous hotel rooms in the mill building were added to the pub at the mill pond.
Since 1998 the turbine is working again and produces power.
