Company history
In 1884 the Altona-Kaltenkirchener Eisenbahn-Gesellschaft (AKE) opened its first main line between Hamburg and Kaltenkirchen. Already in 1916 the line ran up to Neumünster south and 'AKE' became 'AKN'.
When in 1950 the steam engine was still part of everyday life the AKN has been using modern diesel vehicles since 1930.
and still today the 'AKN' is a fast and modern alternative to the car.
Advancing 'AKN'
Due to limited car parks and increasing petrol prices more and more commuter take the option 'AKN'.
The 'AKN' convinces not only with punctual timetables but also by becoming a younger and younger face as one can read at some railway stations' billboards.
