The small town Dahme / Mark is situated at the fringe of the Lower Fläming - only 8km further on east, forms the "Niederlausitzer Landrücken" the border to the Lausitz.

The town hall in Dahme was inaugurated in 1894 and replaced a provisory, which was housed at the altered Nikolai church since a fire in 1563.

The counsel decided on its demolition and the building of a new domicile 1892.

The architect Max Jacob, born in Dahme was entrusted with its planning. His work is impressive, the tower with its pointed helmets stand elegantly.

Here it is shown how successful the fantasy of a plan with brick as building material can be converted into reality.

Around this time most of the imposing town houses were built in the Hauptstraße and the centre as well as the almshouses Viktoriastift I and II and the agricultural school (today comprehensive school) in the Nordhag.
