The Rhododendron and Azalea Park Hutberg

At the western outskirts of Kamenz emerges the Hutberg with the Kamenzer municipal park.

The park is only 8 minutes away from the train station and with the two car parks at the foot of the hill in easy reach for everybody.

The fields at the Hutberg were still husbanded until the 19th century.

The terrain was planted from 1873 to 1913 by Wilhelm Weiße, the Saxon royal court plant purveyor and again and again enlarged. He was later bestowed with an honorary citizenship of Kamenz for his designs. Parallel to the Lindenallee a road was built in the year 1933 to serve for the three years later built open air theatre at the eastern slope of the Hutberg.
