The present St. Jacobi church has its form since 1766. The predecessor had to be pulled down due to dilapidation one year prior. It offers some special characteristics like the crucifixion group from the 15th-century. The pulpit and the baptismal font stem from the 17th-century. Around 100 years ago the two coloured church windows left and right were added to the altar. They depict the Nativity Story.
The current German history has also been depicted on one of the newer windows: the opening of the border in the year 1989 - for the St. Jacobi church community at the Elbe a very special event.
The Hammer organ needs a special mention. It was newly built after the old model between 1969 - 1977. The organ encompasses 26 stops.
