Rhine Fall Schaffhausen

The Rhine Falls
is situated in Switzerland more precise in Schaffhausen and even more specific near Neuhausen at the Rheinfall. To travel to Europe's biggest waterfall is easy. By train just to Schaffhausen maybe change trains and get off at the Rhine Fall. By bicycle along the Rhine on well sign-posted lovely paths to Schaffhausen and from there again to the Rhine Falls.

By car it is recommended to cross the border at Bietingen / Thayingen and then follow the signs. By the way you don't need a Vignette to Schaffhausen. Once you've reached the car-park try to find somebody who is leaving and asked nicely for his parking ticket. At least at the lower Rhine Falls car-park day-tickets are being sold and they are with 3.50€ not quite cheap, we feel....

Castle Lauffen
High above the Rhine Fall is the castle Lauffen situated that houses among others a youth hostel and of course souvenir shops.
Here one has to pay again (0.30Cent) if one wants to reach the observation platform 'Känzeli' via very steep paths. But one will get a breathtaking view of the fall...
