Marienschlucht (ravine) - Nature beauty at the Lake

Entangled is the path that leads through the Marienschlucht (ravine) onto the  Bodanrück. 30metre high rock faces protrude left and right, approaching each other sometimes up to one metre as if they were missing each other...

A small brook rushes ceaselessly under the feet of the visitors the roughly 100metre down a long flume to gush itself at the food of the ravine into the Bodensee.

There at the entrance to the flume guards a carved out of stone Mother of God. But it was not her who gave the name to the ravine - as one would assume. The background is quite a different one, a romantic one so to speak....

It was an 'engagement present' by the earl of Bodman to his fiancé, a countess with the name Marie, who became a eponym of one of the most charming nature beauty in the Bodensee area.

The way is at parts quite soggy. Good solid shoes are advisible.

At the entrance to the ravine is a barbeque situated.

And finally for the friends of detail: 230 step lead upstairs (of course downstairs as well...)
