Pronstorfer Notes

Pronstorf. The Wendish were there first. Henning von Rumohr writes: 'There, where the church stands now (…), a shrine dedicated to the Wendish God Prone stood here at Wendish times.' Then in the 12th-century the Schauenburger earls came and conquered and Christianised the land little by little. Quote Henning von Rumohr: 'And when the land was conquered the earl divided land into fiefdoms and distributed it to the knights.'
The von Buchwaldt's were also remembered. This dynasty was being named as owner of Pronstorf, then castle and knight's seat, around 1300 already. The von Buchwaldt stayed – with short interruptions around 1500 – in estate Gut Pronstorf. Until 1887. Then they came to the estate Rantzau with the marriage of Adelheid von Buchwaldt to Otto Graf zu Rantzau-Breitenburg.
