The former palace Wehningen from the year 1285 had a very changeful history until it came to Earl von Bernstorff in 1842. At the end of the 18th-century the palace burned down and was rebuilt in 1906. In 1979/ 1980 the palace fell victim to border security measures of the GDR and was pulled down.
Only the archway and the beautiful palace park with large oaks, giant thuja trees and pond exist today. At the entrance of the Wehninger church from 1838 one can see eleven bricks with dogs and cats' paws prints as banish marks. Inside the church is a well worth seeing alabaster relief from the 16th-century and painted carvings. In August 1996 a sculptor symposium took place in the palace park.
