The small village Oldenrode with its population of 582 (status 2007) is located surrounded by wood-rich downs between Harz and Solling.
Since the incorporation in the year 1974 is Oldenrode part of the community Kalefeld.
Oldenrode was first recorded as 'Aldigerod' in a document from the year 1055.
The belfry 'Saint Alban' was built around the year 1700.
It was probably built on the foundation of the former St. Albani-chapel.
In the tower of the belfry the still hangs the bell from the St. Albani-chapel.
In today's time the belfry is being cared for by the 'Heimatverein Oldenrode' and is being used for diverse village events.
