Monastery museum in Zeven

image author: Peter Grelck

Thick walls from field stones and bricks, wall paintings from the 17th century and a romantic vault cellar tell tales from the time when Zeven belonged to the richest monasteries in the archdiocese of Bremen. Much is to discover: the 500 years old coin treasure from Heeslingen, an old pharmacy, the beautifully shaped and extravagant porcelain from Zeven in the style of the art déco, artistic rarities from the time of the art nouveau, furniture as well as book and pictures.

Insider tip: The Gauß room in the "Haus des Handwerks (house of the handicraft)“. In 1824/25 the mathematician and astrologist Gauß lived for about 6 weeks in the previous postal station. The small exhibition in the loft room documents his works and land survey in Zeven.
