Already between 780 and 802 was the village named in the Traditiones et antiquitates Fuldenses, when Nithart and his wife Eggihilt bequeathed the monastery Fulda their estates in several villages among them also Luthereshusen.

The earls from castle Lutterberg transferred their tithe rights to the diocese Fedelsloh in 1279.

The village was incorporated into the town Hardegsen in 1974.
