A tourist feature of the town Hürth is Kendenich Castle. The baroque moated castle with its multiple curved roof and its onion tower greets one well into the Rhine plains. It is situated on the eastern slope. In 1660-1664 the manor was built by Sigismund Raitz von Frentz. The outer bailey stems from 1667. A combined coat of arms of the family Groote and von Pütz is to be seen above the portal. The Cologne mayor Jakob Gabriel and his wife Maria von and zum Pütz purchased the castle facility in 1766, in 1771 the northern outer bailey wing was built.
In the 18th-century The arched bridge with stone balustrade and coat of arms carrying lion figure was constructed in the 18th-century. It leads over the moat towards the main house. Through marriage the palace went to the family Kempis. They had several structural alteration works done. Unfortunately the later vacant castle deteriorated visibly. Unfortunately the original interior was lost during renovation work of fittings flats in the manor in 1981/82. Now it shines in new splendour and only the artistic roof structure inside remembers the original substance.
