The foundation for the subsequent Holsten Brewery was laid at the Brachenfelderstraße on the 11th of March1874. The client was the limited commercial partnership D.H.Hinselmann & Co., who had operated a small brewery at the Großflecken. In the first construction phase a cool cellar was already created in 1864, where in winter ice from the Schwalewiesen was stored that in turn cooled the beer barrels until late into the summer. There were many extensions and rebuilding in the course of the centuries. In 1922 the building was owned by the Holsten Brewery. The Holsten Brewery left Neumünster in November 1986. The rooms - renovated and restored by a private investor - have been leased to a service company and shops.
