The community of Kirchlinteln in its current form has been in existence since 1972. In the context of the community reform of 1972 17 previously independent villages came together.

Kirchlinteln is rich of prehistoric findings. Settler's tracks are going back to the last ice age. In the Lehringer Mergelgruben (clay pits) the oldest speer in the world was discovered being about 100.000 years old, still sticking in the ribs of an forest elephant. A reconstruction is exhibited in the local history museum in Verden. At the slopes of the river Aller, at Gohbach and at the border of the Moore in Holtum are about 630 megalithic tombs from the bronze age, being about 3.000 to 4.000 years old.
On the territory of Kirchlinteln you find the "Lüneburger Salzstrasse" crossing the area from east to west and also an old trade route from north to south via Hohenaverbergen.

Until about 1900 the "Kirchlintelner Rübenmarkt (Beet market)" which has been existing since 1660, had a very significant meaning for this region. This market is still celebrated every last Saturday in September and its popularity goes far beyond the community borders.

Kirchlinteln is mainly an agricultural as well as forestry area however also noteworthy commercial businessess are located here.

The village- region of Lintler Geest

Since the year 1991 a new village renewal program has been in existence for the villages of Bendingbostel, Brunsbrock, Kreepen, Schafwinkel and Sehlingen.

In the "village-region Lintelner Geest" the tourism development under the motto "Sanfte Erholung (soft recovery/relaxation)" stands in the centre of the activities. Soft for the people, as they can move freely with open senses in the nature, but also soft for the environment as the relaxation is in harmony with ecological requirements.

In the Lintelner Geest you will find a diverse country side with most untouched nature. Hilly areas of the Geest, quiet river valleys and large forests produce a varied landscape within a rural environment.

The villages retained the unmistakable charm of old farmer's villages. Here you can dive into a rural seclusion, here you find peace and relaxation.

The flyer concerning "nature- and culture path Lintler Geest" is available at the tourism association and at the community administration.
