Around 1900 Wahlstedt was a rural community, consisting of 96 houses and 595 citizens. 763 hectare field and 162 hectare meadow were being farmed. 93 horses and 479 cattle were being kept also.*

Today Wahlstedt is a chirpy lovely small town with around 9.300 citizens. Architectonically appealing new buildings dominate most of the townscape.
But then right in the middle of the village, as it were, on the main road's backside, next to a dignified oak, Wahlstedt in the back-light still shows its 'old magic'.
