The community Wietze is situated in the southern part of the Lüneburger Heide, in the diverse fen landscape of the Wietzenbruch.
The villages Wietze, Hornbostel, Jeversen and Wieckenberg form an idyllic unit along the little streams Aller and Wietze.
North of Hornbostel, nature-friends enthuse about the nature reserve 'Hornbosteler Hutweide', where one will find not only rare plant species, one can also watch the ancient breed of Przewalski horses grazing.
The village district of Wieckenberg maintains its very special charm through a big, old tree population, many divine half-timbered houses and old cobblestones.
The village is also an ideal starting point for riders as there is a well developed path network with firm sandy soil for rides.
Situated right in the middle of the village is the Stechinelli chapel, which is around 300 years old. The chapel has been restored, several times and has a colourful Baroque interior.
Widely known is also the German Crude Oil Museum in Wietze, which is situated on a former part of the Wietze oil field.
Once, here was really crude oil produced and old drilling rigs and also the pump support stool, situated along the Nienburgerstraße in Wietze, are proof of that.
