Schlagen and its two villages Kohlstädt and Oesterholz-Haustenbeck is situated between the sandy Senne with its large heath areas and pine forests and the foothills of the Teutoburger Forest and Eggegebirge. Schlangen is the ideal starting point for hiking as well bicycle tours.
In spring, the blossom-carpet of Corydalis attracts hiker and cyclist into the Lange Tal. From the nearby situated Bauerkamp, one can see deep into the Paderborner Land.
