Community Scharzfeld

The village Scharzfeld with its ca. 1.800 citizens is part of the town Herzberg, Harz and is situated in a height of ca. 300m at the edge of the south Harz.
Scharzfeld was first recorded in 952 and celebrated its 1.050-year existence in the year 2002.

In the year 1972 Scharzfeld received the the rating 'state approved health resort'.
With the castle ruin, the stone church and the unicorn cave Scharzfeld has some landmarks to offer. A trip to these destinations is well worth the effort. Do visit these places of history and see for yourself.

The St.-Thomas-church in Scharzfeld was built in 1855. The wood carved church's altar stems from the 15th-century. The bell has been stamped with the year 1439. The church was renovated and modernised in 1955 on the occasion of its 100-year existence.
