The village Büren, which runs into Osnabrück's districts Atter and Eversburg, originated in its present form due to the housing settlement of the Klöckner Works from 1950 onwards: The steel work needed the displaced persons as workers for the rebuilding, the displaced persons needed housing. The residential area reminds one of that time, the attractive Bürgerpark is located there.
An important part of the community is also the farming community Osterberg, which was first mentioned in 1251. Named by the locals lovingly 'Freistaat Osterberg' (Free State Osterberg). At the time, when monks brewed beer at the monastery, which doesn't exist anymore today, reminds the little 'Hopfengarten' in the Münsterstraße.
