The village Bartolfelde is situated at the former border to the GDR and is one of 3 villages of the city Bad Lauterberg. Bartolfelde was incorporated into the city Bad Lauterberg in 1972.
The village founding of Bartolfelde (Bardenevelt) took place probably before 1200. But the village itself was named for the first time in 1260. Today's St. Bartholdi church was built 1508 - 1511, the church tower in 1709 - 1711. The church was altered in 1862 - 1863. The last renovation took place from 1989 - 1991. Inside the church is a tomb slab of the knight Hans-Georg of Minningerode, who died in 1594. The rectory adjacent to the church stems from the year 1841.
At the idyllic pond, which is situated right in the village's centre the popular annual pond festival takes place.
Bartolfelde is also well known for the production of Schierker Feuerstein (traditonal local liquor).
