The Kottmarsdorfer Bockwind-Mill was built in the year 1843 and is situated at the 435m high Pfarrberg. Kottmarsdorf is one of the highest situated villages in the Oberlausitz in the middle of the border-triangle Germany-Czech Republic-Poland..

The mill was operating for exactly 100 years. Local students agreed in  1961 to renew the Bockwind-Mill and form the foundation of an exhibition facility. Since then the community and the Natur- und Heimatfreunde Kottmarsdorf e.V. strive together for the conversation of value.

The mill is fully functional and can be viewed. It got its new sails in 1990 inclusive of a break, a new turning beam and much more.

On Whit-Monday the annual Mill-Day takes place nationwide and finally the traditional mill's 'show turning' in the wind is happening again. At the cosily rustic furnished show bakery at the mill-house bread and tasty cakes are baked the traditional way in a wood-oven and sold. Mill guests are invited to help. Events take place during the year at the mill premises that are well-known and very popular beyond the borders of the Oberlausitz. First of all of course the   Kottmarsdorfer Mill-Festival but the baking days, the Schlachtfest (enjoy sausages from freshly slaughtered pigs) and many other little events are also part of it.  The Local Museum with its old farmhouse parlour in Oberlausitzer style is really well worth a visit.
