In the coat of arms of Erfde, the two silver wave-beams, the rivers Eider and Sorge - two water-bodies that are most important for the historical development of the village. The green background refers to the countryside that always at the Eider-Sorge-lowland has been farmed as meadow and greens agriculture.

The 'Bauernglocke' (farmer's bell) is a typical village symbol. That's why it is often as 'Stapelholmglocke' referred to.

Erfde is the most southern rural central place in the county of   Schleswig-Flensburg. And the biggest village in the countryside Stapelholm.

To the community belong the villages Grevenhorst, Ekel, Bargen and Scheppern.

Erfde is wonderfully situated on a geest island surrounded by nature reserve parks and well-developed agricultural paths, which are ideal for cycling.

The Sorge and the Eider are ideal for paddlers, water friends and anglers.

Daily requirements can be met at the shopping area at the eastern village entrance (B202).
