Willich-Anrath

Anrath celebrated its 1000-year existence in 2010.
There are only a few historic buildings left in the village centre. Special emphasis is on the Jew House, the Liedbergische Richterhaus, the former inn 'Zum alten Zoll' Schottelstraße 1 (around 1788/89 actual customs office - 'Silent Land Border Duty'), the Leutnantshaus (now used by the Volksbank) and the Schultheißenhaus.

Next the St. Johannes church is the building of the former town hall with the town hall tower and the Leutnantshaus one of the most well worth seeing buildings at the Markt-/Kirchplatz in Anrath.

The attractive pedestrian zone is situated between the town hall and Adler-Pharmacy. Here is also the inn and in-house brewery Schmitz Mönk situated, the last brewery in the district Viersen.

The Leutnantshaus is a residential and office building, which stems from the 18th-century.Through the centuries the usage changed as well as the exterior. Detailed information about the town history is available at the Bürgerverein Anrath.
