Water towers in the district Viersen

The water tower in Nettetal-Lobberrich can be seen from afar. It is Lobberich's landmark. The water tower was constructed in the year 1898. Today it is a listed building. The public utility company sold it for one D-mark to the present owner, Herrn Helmut Sommerfeld, in the mid-90ties. The water tower stands empty still today. A re-use as residential and office building failed due to the estimated costs.

The water tower in Tönisvorst-St.Tönis was in operation from 1929 to 1999. Today it houses two attractions. One is 'Cult at the Water Tower' with a diverse offer for children, youngsters and adults. Dance and theatre are in the foreground but also painting and design with wood, clay and felt are being offered in courses, school projects and for children's birthday parties.

The second attraction is the'Café eigenwillig', which is being lovingly and engaged managed by Heike Preuß. Here you can enjoy delicious dishes, tasty cakes, fresh waffles, crepes and a breakfast-buffet every Sunday from 10am-2pm. The interior and seating indoors ans well as outdoors is modern and very tasteful.

The Kempener water tower started to operate in January 1906. It is 41,5 metres high and holds in its steel tank at present 350.00 litres of water since the rebuilding in the year 1964.

During the rebuilding the water tower lost also its cupola, a small tower and the exterior wooden cladding of the tank.

Water towers in Krefeld

The water tower at the Gutenbergstraße in Krefeld started operation in 1877. Its cylindrical flat-base tank holds 1600 m3 water. It is now listed and is apart from the water tower in Krefeld Hüls one of the two preserved water towers in Krefeld.

The small water tower, a landmark of Krefeld-Hüls also lovingly called 'Türmchen' (tiny tower) can be seen from afar. It is the second preserved water tower in Krefeld.
