The water tower, Kirchmöser's landmark, was completed after plans by the architect Reichle in 1916. The 60m high water tower was used, after putting it in operation, for the water supply for the power plant, provided the extinguishing water in a powder factory and served the surrounding residential estates as drinking water storage. The water tower was fed by the Havel waterworks, which is situated in the north. It supplied parts of the urban waterworks until the mid 1920ties.
Since 1970, the water tower hasn't been in use. The forestry is using the tower now as watch and coordination point.
Due to the historic, scientific, technical, artistic, urban planning/architecture and folkloric importance, it was listed as a monument in 1992.
If you want to experience Kirchmöser from a bird's eye perspective, do climb up the water tower.
One option is the Brandenburg Towers Day. This is being organised by the Verein Stadtmarketing Brandenburg e.V. Tel:03381/ 79 63 60 or contact and book via the Tourist Information.
