The village Trittau is being first mentioned as 'aqua Trutauen' in the year 1167. During the Thirty-Year-War the captains Tilly and Wallenstein stayed here as the occupying power with an army of up to 40.000 soldiers. Well worth seeing is still today the Napoleon Bridge.

Today the borough Trittau consisted of 10 individual communities. Among them is also Hohenfelde, the smallest community in the district Stormarn. The village Trittau presents the centre of the borough. Through this a special function ensued for the areas administration, industry and trade. together with the economy and company association Stormarn, a modern industrial areas was created.
The community's centre presents itself to the visitor lively and modern. Numerous attractive shops form the villagescape. Sports enthusiasts have a great choice of club available and these are being used actively.

This is especially true for the community's culture. The Trittauer watermill has been a culture centre that is active beyond its borders for a long time. Aficionados visit the Easter spring-market and enjoy the offers of the arts and crafts market.
