The Harzer Hexenstieg, a hiking trail across the German highlands Harz is one of Germany's loveliest hiking trails.
It was opened in October 2003 and was the first hiking path which connected the old and new federal states.
The main route of the Harzer Hexenstieg runs over ca. 100km from Osterode, Harz via the Brocken to Thale into the Bode valley.
If you want to hike around the Brocken you will find an alternative on the Torfhaus.
The Harzer Hexenstieg consists of several hiking legs and can either be hiked through in one day or spread over several days depending on the hikers personal discretion.
The hiker will experience the whole beauty of the Harz on his way. He will walk through green mixed forests, dense coniferous forests and colourful mountain meadows, past steep cliffs and clear mountain becks.
The Harzer Hexenstieg is an experience of a special kind for all nature lovers.
