The DITIB-Merkez-Mosque - dialogue underneath the cupola

The DITIB-Merkez-Mosque in the district Marxloh was opened in 2008 and counts as one of the biggest mosques in Germany. It offers space for over 1000 payers and is used not only as place to pray but also as inter-cultural meeting place. An educational programme and a bistro operation also contribute.

The construction of the mosque has become known by the public as the 'the miracle of Marxloh', as the construction finished in only a few years and took place without an public protests or legal disputes. The inauguration celebration was attended high-ranking representatives of Christian churches and politics.

The concept of a mosque with integrated meeting place made the praying place also interesting for foreign visitors. During guided tours and lectures one has the possibility to learn about the mosque and the world of Islam.
