A first mention in 1398 - 1529 called it the white place. Biehlen is a former fishing village. Before the Elster regulation Biehlen was a village like the villages today in the Spreewald. Fish was sold annually for hundreds of Talers. The fishermen bridge was known everywhere in the surrounding area. From the 16th-century onwards there were lots of floods, which often destroyed the whole harvest.

Zinsbusch, Mühlbusch, Saggassen, were impenetrable areas and only accessible during hart frost. There was only one road into the village, which lead from Schwarzbach to Nauendorf. A footpath - and this one runs over logs, so-called 'banks', were put into many river arms. Only one waterway led to Brieske. The overland way ran over Niemtsch, Buchwalde. That is why the Elster regulation in 1856 was a blessing for the village Biehlen.

On the 13th of September 1855 - in the morning the village burned down except for the manor Jänchen, the school and seven cottager huts.
In 1862 after a hard cold spell, strong rain and thaw set in at the end of January. At the Elster bridge near Biehlen sheets of ice shifted so hard that the Elster dams broke. The water flooded the whole Elster valley, broke through the road to Nauendorf. Biehlen was cut off. The postal traffic ceased until the 12th of February. A mild winter followed.

1880 7th of January - the Elster dam broke near Elstra due to flooding. 20th - 21st of October - hurricane style storm at night, lots of destruction, even windows were shattered
