The stately Gothic brick building was built in several construction stages. It started with in 1286 with the long-stretched one-nave chancel. Here were the high altar and the choir stalls. during the second half of the 14th-century, the building was completed. A late-Gothic addition is the slim belfry, which was built in the 15th-century. After further installations in the 18th-century, the church was then refurbished from 1868-70 under Ferdinand von Quast. At the end of the 2nd World War, the Pauli church was destroyed. The GDR planned to rebuild the ruin in the 1960tis. But, financial shortages, let the plans fail. Only in 2002, the decision was made to reconstruct the monastery. Since 2007, shines - from funds of the aus EU, federal government, the state of Brandenburg and the town of Brandenburg - one of the most interesting monuments in new splendour and shapes the townscape. The three-nave abbey offers breathtaking impressions and can now also used for events of the most diverse kind. Since the 01.12.2007, the Archaeological State Museum Brandenburg, shows on 2100 m², in the Pauli monastery a representative overview of Brandenburg's the cultural history.
