Seeth-Ekholt is situated directly west of Elmshorn at the federal motorway 23.

The name Seeth-Ekholt developed from the name 'Zeethe' in 1388 over 'Szete' in 1564 to 'Seth' in 1700 and finally to 'Seeth' in 1915.

The name Ekholt comes from 'Eekholt' and 'Eckholt' which means as much as oak wood.
