Roxel

In the district Roxel, live around 8.000 citizens on a surface of ca. 20 km². In the north, the district borders onto Nienberge, in the east onto Gievenbeck and Sentrup, as well as in the south on Mecklenbeck and Albachten. The motorway A1 divides the district into Roxel west of the motorway and Altenroxel easterly.

The best known daughter of the town is Annette von Droste-Hülshoff, who was born in Hülshoff Palace, in 1797, which belonged then to the parish Roxel, and was baptised in the St.-Pantaleon church in Roxel. As were other prominent relatives of the family Droste zu Hülshoff, which has been living here since 1417. The BSV is Roxel's biggest sports club.
