All that has survived of Rieke's gingerbread factory is the lovingly preserved facade.

In the year 1862 the baker Peter-Heinrich Rieke founded the 'Bäckerei und Conditorei P. Heinrich Rieke'. After 1910, the year the co-partner and independent baker Johannes Marschhausen joined the business the gingerbread bakery developed into a industrial enterprise.

In 1928 the company seat was moved. Until its closure in 1978 the business was well known beyond Achim's city border. In the 'gingerbread gable' one can see the Town Musicians of Bremen: above the two lower windows rooster, dog and cat. The donkey wasn't immortalised here as the donkey hid the treasure in the fountain. As the fourth animal a duck has been depicted.
