In the district of Teltow-Fläming, imbedded in the Nuthe-Nieplitz-triangle, some kilometres away from Trebbin lay the village Blankensee. The countryside surrounding Blankensee is a favourite destination for visitors from Berlin and Potsdam.
Palace Blankensee is a typical building of Markish baroque. Palace and park are in its entirety exemplary for the noble estates of the 18th and 19th century in the Mark Brandenburg.
The palace was built in 1740 for the Saxon district captain Christian Wilhelm von Thümen.
The main house is a two-storey plaster building on a square layout with high plastered foundation. A double-barrelled bended outside staircase connects at the park side house and garden.
From the two side wings only the western one with garden house has been preserved.
A special treasure of the palace is its ca 3,5ha large landscaped park. It can be seen as art-historical valuable, several garden architectures and sculptures. Wonderful rolling paths and lovely views make it into a impressive experience.
The palace as well as the park is owned by the Brandenburg Schlössergesellschaft.
