The beginnings of the 'Theatergruppe Eschbachtal' will be found as so many things in Ohlendorf and Mellinghausen, in the area of the youth fire brigade. One wanted to establish a lower-German theatre group so that youngsters have the chance to continue theatre acting after they have left the youth fire brigade.
This idea proofed to be very good also for young people who didn't have a fire brigade background but were interested in the theatre group.
On the 05. January 1983 the Theatergruppe Eschbachtal e. V. was official founded. The summer theatre is being performed on the open-air stage in Ohlendorf.
This facility was constructed by all members with around 4.000 voluntary working hours in 1 ½ years. The open-air stage is situated idyllically amidst a farm of and old Lower Saxon farmstead. The audience area has 450 garden chairs with armrests and cushions.
The open-air stage was opened on the 21st of June 1985.
