On tour with the night watchman

image author: Gemeinde Lienen

In the Middle Ages, the night watchman would walk the streets and alleyways at night. His tasks were to warn the citizens of fires and thieves and ensure that all doors ad gates were closed properly. The hours were also called out, often with the well-known line of text 'Listen people and let me tell you ...'.

The Lienen night watchman does his round through the village Even though, the hours are not called anymore and the closure of doors and gates is not being checked anymore, but the night watchman will tell of all kinds of occurrences from the past and today, in the humorous way and will present 'stories & tales'.
