The bridge was built by a Genthiner construction company under the management of the government building officer Born, at the beginning of the 19th-century.
It replaced an older wooden bridge. It was put into service on the 15th of October 1904. The bridge was blown up at the end of the 2nd World War and then repaired. It served the traffic of the Bundesstrasse 1 until 2002. The listed construction is 130m long, 10,70m wide and is one of few preserved steel framework bridges in the region. With its characteristic semi-parabolic girders and the railings in the style of art nouveau it has a special architectural history importance.
